50 Optical Drive

This multi-story, all concrete building was one of the first of its kind built in the United States in the 1920s. The four-story building contains 160,000 square feet of 12′ to 14′ clear space and oversized window openings. The floor plates are easily sub-dividable with existing elevator cores at each end of the building and a loading lock/freight elevator at the rear.

The building is situated on one of the most beautiful sections of the Innovation Center – the riverfront park. A generous lawn and mature plantings lead to the river edge. Tenants will have direct pedestrian access over a foot bridge over the Quinebaug River to the Wellsworth Hotel.

Given the building’s characteristics and setting within the park, 50 Optical Drive is ideally suited for housing, light manufacturing, research & development or office use. Current companies/uses include laser imagery and data recovery/storage for off-site mid-sized to large multi-national corporations.
